Unterberg (Tyrol)

BWf1

The lower mountain is 1187 m high, wooded mountain peak above the Pillerseetal, near St. Ulrich am Pillersee or St. Jakob in Haus, Kitzbühel, Austria.

He stands out for its regular shape among the adjacent, slightly higher peaks out ( Tannkogel ( 1289 m), Weißleiten (1400 m), Grieslegg ( 1348 m)) and is exactly at the transition from the gentle Kitzbühel Alps to the rugged Lofer Steinberg mountains. The former consist of crystalline schists and therefore have rounded shapes, while the east adjacent "Stone Mountain " are traversed from limestones of rock walls. This eliminates the shape and color contrast between the lower mountain and its surroundings - for example to the neighboring Grieslegg - all the more eye-catching.
