Lower yoke is a district of Bad Hindelang with about 350 residents, located at an altitude of 1013 m above sea level. Today, he is inundated with tourists.

History

The first evidence of the existence of the town dates back to the year 1471. 1690 received the Hindelanger Branch Chapel in lower yoke measuring the permission, in 1726 a Manualkaplanei was established and since 1868 the town has an independent parish. After the salt transport had come over the pass in 1823 a definitive halt, no extensive contact between the lower yoke and other localities took place more. This changed by the construction of the new Jochstraße 1895 to 1900, was revived by the even tourism. The proximity to the border with Austria led also to the fact that the customs official residence of Upper to lower yoke has been laid.

The municipality was formed Unterjoch new on January 4, 1867 from part of a territory of the municipality Hindelang and reintegrated on 1 April 1972.

Churches, chapels and shrines

The parish church of Holy Trinity, a plastered broken and rolling stone building with a gable roof, has, on the east side of a late gothic roof structure, but is essentially Baroque: A chapel was namely already in 1680; the altar, the year 1673 on. The marble baptismal font with a Holy Spirit dove on the cover is from the year 1846. Apart from some early classical benches on the gallery is the stalls from the renovation of 1911. The Tabernakelschmuck designed Wendelin Matt, the Pietà of the altar cross the Oberammergau Ludwig Huber.

From the period of the High Baroque sculptures of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel and the Holy Alexander and George Michael Beisch come. The dungeon Christ from the workshops of the Eberhard Melchior in Hindelang likely to have been created in 1750.

Near the eastern city limits Unterjochs is the Lohwies Chapel, which was consecrated in 2002. It contains a statue of the Sorrowful Mother of God.

The Chapel of the Assumption in the district Untergschwend was built of stones that were incurred by a large mudslide. On a wooden panel above the entrance is the inscription: This chapel has Joh Georg / secret. in Jahrr. In 1838. in honor of / Blessed Virgin Mary and her / Göttl. Son Jesus Christ, edifying / s leave. In the nave there are stucco rosettes. The altarpiece of 1837 shows the Assumption. In 1996, the chapel, which is not open to the public, renovated.

Additional points of interest

Prior to the morgue of the cemetery there is a early classicist crucifix, which possibly comes from Johann Richard Eberhard ( 1734-1813 ).

At the bridge over the Wertach at the western end of the village can be seen on the gable of a barn, the statue of St. John Nepomuk.
