Underwater is a town in the municipality wild house - Alt St. Johann in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It is the second highest village in Toggenburg. The village is nestled between the Alpstein and the seven Churfirsten at the foot of Santis Mountain at an altitude of 910 m above sea level. M..

The place is popular for mountain and winter sports. 1934, the funicular to Iltios was built as the first mountain railway in Toggenburg. Today the web is part of the area Obertoggenburg. Underwater is the home of ski jumper and four time Olympic champion Simon Ammann.

To the north above the village is the Gräppelensee.

Economics, Transportation

The main industries are tourism, agriculture, hospitality and small businesses. Underwater is served hourly by the postal bus line between Nesslau- Neu St. Johann and Buchs SG.

The cable car underwater Iltios (DUI ), called Iltiosbahn, brings the passengers on the Iltios ( 1,350 m above sea level. M. ). From there, a cableway leads to the Chäserrugg ( 2,262 m above sea level. M. ), the first of the seven Churfirsten. The railways operate with those of wild house SG and Alt St. Johann Obertoggenburg ski resort that brings together a total length of 60 km of pistes and 19 transport facilities counts.
