Unuk River

The Unuk River is a river in the Canadian province of British Columbia and Alaska.

It flows from the Coast Mountains in a southwesterly direction to the Behm Canal, northeast of Ketchikan.

The origins of the river in the heavily glaciated areas of British Columbia, south of the lower Iskut River. The Unuk River flows west and south over a distance of 129 km. He crossed the border to Alaska and finally flows into the Burroughs Bay, an arm of Behm Canal. Within Alaska flows through the River Unuk the Misty Fjords National Monument.

In the language of the Tlingit of the river " Joonáx " means. Sometimes it is also called " Oonáx ", which is a reduced form. The USGS reported that a publication from 1906 called the proper flow name " Junuk " or " Junock ".
