Upahl

Upahl is a municipality in the district of North West Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. The municipality is the Office Grevesmühlen country located in the town of Greve mills, which forms an administrative community with the Office, managed.

Geography

The community Upahl is two kilometers south of Greve mills and is located about 25 kilometers from Wismar. The area by the river Stepenitz is slightly hilly, with 50 m above sea level. NHN will reach the greatest height at major Pravtshagen. To Upahl include the districts Blieschendorf, Boienhagen, United Pravtshagen, Hans Hagen, Kastahn and Sievershagen.

History

On 1 January 2011 the then independent municipality Hans Hagen was incorporated with the districts Blieschendorf and Sievershagen after Upahl.

The coat of arms was approved on 3 January 2007 by the Home Office and registered under No. 306 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Economy and Transport

Economy

The commercial area located at the motorway junction Grevesmühlen houses, among other things, a logistics company, a highway maintenance and various offices of commercial enterprises. In addition, there is the ancestral home of Arla Foods Germany GmbH - Branch Upahl (formerly Hansa-Milch AG). In recent years, over 500 jobs have been created. The coffee producer Viva Coffee built in 2008 for 50 million euros a piece for instant coffee, which originated 120 jobs.

The surroundings of Upahl is dominated by agriculture and of several wind turbines. The district Kastahn could keep its original appearance as a peasant village.

Traffic

The Federal Highway 20, lies close to Upahl. The main road from Greve mills in the state capital Schwerin performs Upahl. In the near Greve mills is connected by train to Lübeck and Wismar.
