Upernivik Island

Upernivik (Danish Upernivik Ø) is an uninhabited, mountainous island in the Uummannaq Fjord in the west of Greenland. Highest point of the 540 km ² island, 2105 meters above sea level, is the Palup Qaqqaa. Administratively, the island is part of the large community Qaasuitsup.

The island is from the Greenland mainland by the straits Inukavsait in the north ( 2.6 km wide to Akuliaruseq Peninsula) and Paakassaa (3.8 km wide ).
