The car vampire or the vampire from the Ferat ( tschech. original title upir Feratu z ) is a Czechoslovakian horror science-fiction movie of 1981. Alternative title is The Vampire from Ferat.

It is based on the story vampire Ltd.. of the Czech science fiction author Josef Nesvadba. It was produced in the Prague Barrandov Film Studios, directed by Juraj Herz.

Action

The story is about a revolutionary sports car - the manufacturer Ferat the vampire. The emergency physician Dr. Marek and the paramedic Mima are called, complained as a racing driver of the test car about pain and the car can hardly contain himself. Dr. Marek tries to solve the mystery around the car. It turns out that the car requires no gasoline, but human blood.

The vehicle shown in the film is a supercar prototype on the basis of Škoda Škoda Super Sport 724

The tschech. original title upir z Feratu also allows for the reading of " vampire Nosferatu", while the names of the protagonists Mima and Luisa allude to the Dracula - sacrificial Mina and Lucy in Bram Stoker.
