Upper West Side

The Upper West Side ( Upper West Side to German ) is a neighborhood in New York City, USA. The name comes from its location in the northwest of the district of Manhattan. It is located north of the embossed Midtown office towers and is from Central Park to the east, bordered by the Hudson River to the west and from 59th Street to the south. The northern border is historically on 110th Street, but is now sometimes indicated due to changes in population structure with 125th Street. The Central Park divides Manhattan between 59th Street in the south and 110th Street to the north in the Upper East Side and the Upper West Side.

The district is characterized by a mixture of apartments, restaurants, shopping and culture. The Lincoln Center with the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Opera, the New York City Ballet and the New York Philharmonic is located here, as is the Museum of Natural History, with its planetarium. A majority of the residents of the Upper West Side is one of the upper middle class.
