Uppsala General Catalogue

The Uppsala General Catalogue (UGC ) is generated based on the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey catalog of 12921 galaxies visible from the northern hemisphere from. The objects are ordered by right ascension and labeled with a consecutive number. The catalog was created by Peter Nilson at the observatory of Uppsala and published in 1973.

The UGC covers the entire area of the sky north of declination -2.5 °. His goal is completeness for galaxies with a diameter of at least one minute of arc on the blue prints of the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey, also contains minor galaxies from the Catalogue of Galaxies and of Clusters of Galaxies by Fritz Zwicky, as long as they brighter than 14.5 - te size class.

The catalog contains diameter, orientation, brightness and description of galaxies and their celestial coordinates with an accuracy sufficient for identification. References to the name in some other galaxy catalogs and the redshift, if any, attached.
