Uppsala Municipality
Uppsala is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Uppsala County and the historic province of Uppland. The main town of the municipality is Uppsala.
Geography
The city of Uppsala takes currently (2005) a 2.18 percent of the total area of the municipality.
History
In the area around Uppsala 983 Styrbjörn the Strong lost the battle of Fyrisvall ( Slaget vid Fyrisvallarna ).
The community Knivsta belonged until January 1, 2003 to Uppsala, but is now an independent municipality.

Description: In Blue, an ongoing, red gezungter and reinforced guardant golden lion with a crown with a raised right paw.
The municipal council (Swedish kommunfullmäktige ) was last elected in 2006 and currently has 81 seats.
Attractions
In the city of Uppsala itself there are numerous attractions (see there).
Outside the city of Uppsala is Old Uppsala, a historic settlement with major barrows and an imposing church. There also the historical site of the temple of Uppsala is suspected.
The Stones of Mora ( Mora Swedish stenar ) are indeed often counted among the attractions of Uppsala, but are actually part of the community Knivsta.
