Uragh Stone Circle

The stone circle of Uragh North stands on the Beara peninsula between the lakes Cloonee Lough ( Upper) and Loch Inchiquin in Town Country Uragh (Irish Urach ) in County Kerry in Ireland. The Ameen (river), which connects the two lakes, flowing about 200 m north over. The circle is only accessible via a spur road that begins at Cooragillagh.

The stone circle of Uragh stands on a small terrace on the hillside above Loch Inchiquin. An approximately three meters high monolith stands next to the tiny "Five -Stone - Circle", with a 2.4 m diameter, a stone circle genus, which is typical for the South West of the island. Uragh is a characteristic of Irish stone circle of the Cork - Kerry series of plate-like stones. Four stones are, while the southeastern is in difficulty. The radially to the circular arranged rectangular monolith dominates the scene. He is only 60 cm away from the stone circle. Nearby is the slightly larger stone circle Uragh southwest.
