Urgell

The Comarca Urgell is located in the province of Lleida of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia (Spain). The community association has an area of 587 km ² and 31,316 inhabitants (2009 ).

Location

Urgell is located in the center of Catalonia, some 40 km east of the provincial capital city of Lleida. The community association is bordered to the north by the comarca of Noguera, in the east of Segarra, in the south of Conca de Barberà and Garrigues and to the west by Pla d' Urgell. Together with the Comarcas Garrigues, Noguera, Segarra, Segrià Pla d'Urgell and forms the region 's territory Ponent.

Urgell is located in the center of a fertile plateau, the Zentralkatalonischen sink. The tributaries of the Riu Segre, north of the Riu SiO and south of the Riu Corb traverse the Comarca from east to west. On the 300-400 m high plain between these rivers is just a survey, the Serra d' Almenara with a maximum height of 459 m. The area is crisscrossed by irrigation canals (Canal d' Urgell ). South of Riu Corb the landscape is mountainous, with peaks above 600 m altitude. In the extreme south of the Serra del Tallat is.
