Uri Rosenthal

Uriel (Uri) Rosenthal ( born July 19, 1945 in Montreux ) is a Dutch political scientist and politician ( member of the Volkspartij voor de Vrijheid Democracy, VVD). From October 2010 to November 2012 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

Prior to assuming his ministerial post, he was from 1999 a member of the First Chamber of the States General, where he was also Chairman of the Group for the VVD since 2005. In addition to his political functions, he is a professor of management science at Leiden University and Chairman of the Instituut voor COT Veiligheids -en Crisis Management, a consulting firm that deals with questions about crisis management and security. After the Dutch general election in 2010 he has also served as one of five information Expensive.

Uri Rosenthal is married and lives in Rotterdam. He is of Jewish origin, but not practicing.
