Uriah Forrest

Uriah Forrest ( * 1746 in Leonardtown, St. Mary's County, Maryland, † July 6, 1805 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. In the years 1793 and 1794, he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Uriah Forrest received only a limited education. During the Revolutionary War he served in a unit from Maryland in the Continental Army. He rose to the Major. He was wounded several times and even lost a leg. After the war he worked in the tobacco trade. He also embarked on a political career. Between 1781 and 1790 he was several times in the House of Representatives from Maryland. In 1787 he was a member of the Continental Congress. Politically, he was the federal government under President George Washington close (Pro - Administration Group ).

In the congressional elections of 1792 Forrest was selected in the third electoral district of Maryland in the time which meets even in Philadelphia U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of John Francis Mercer on March 4, 1793. This mandate he held until his resignation on November 8, 1794. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Uriah Forrest in 1795 Major General of the militia of Maryland in the year. Since 1800 to 1805 he was employed in the management of the District Court in the new Federal District District of Columbia. He died on 6 July 1805 in the German capital Washington.
