Urk Lighthouse

The lighthouse of Urk is a beacon of 18.5 m height in the Dutch municipality of Urk It is situated on the highest point of the province of Flevoland. The construction of the present lighthouse began in 1844, he operated his few years completely automatic and is not equipped with radar.

As early as 1617 a coal fire was kept up for orientation to the fishermen of the community and for the Amsterdam -propelled vessels in the North Sea in Urk.
