Urpo Sivula

Urpo Sivula ( born March 15, 1988 in Kuru ) is a Finnish volleyball player.

Career

Sivula began his volleyball career at the age of seven years at his hometown club Kurun Ryhti. In Virtain Veikot he won two Junior Championships. With the junior team of Kuortaneen Urheiluopisto he played from 2004 to 2006 in the third and second division. In addition, he was appointed captain of the Finnish national junior team. In 2006, Sivula in the senior team that could ever decide a World League game for yourself on his debut for the first time. In the same year he moved to Pielaveden Sampo. With his new club, he won the Finnish Cup. He was also runner-up and reached the quarterfinals in the CEV Cup. At the European Championships of 2007, the Finns had to Sivula in the semifinals only scarcely defeated the Spaniards and were finally fourth. With his club the outside attacker could repeat the 2008 national successes of the previous season. In 2009, he won for the third time in a row the trophy. He then went to Turkey to Galatasaray. Just one year later, he joined the Italian league to Gabeca Montichiari, where he met the Finnish national coach Mauro Berruto. In 2010 he played at second division Edilesse Conad Reggi. At the European Championships in 2011, he reached the quarter-finals with Finland. Then signed him the German Bundesliga club Berlin Recycling Volleys, where he was German champion in 2012. He then returned to his homeland to the Finnish Kokkolan Tigers.
