Ursula Burns

Ursula M. Burns ( born September 20, 1958) is the Chairwoman and CEO of Xerox. She is the first African American woman to head a S & P 100 company and the first woman to be sent to replace another woman to head a S & P 100 company. Forbes magazine put it in 2009 and 2010 respectively on the list of 100 most powerful women in the world.

Life

Ursula Burns studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University and Columbia University. She completed an internship at Xerox in 1980 and was acquired the following year after graduation. In 1991, she was assistant to the then CEO Paul Allaire and headed in the years to different areas of the company. She worked closely with Anne Mulcahy, who was CEO of Xerox in 2001. In July 2009, Burns took over from Mulcahy as CEO in May 2010, she took over the post of Chairwoman.

Ursula Burns is married and has two children.
