Ursula Strauss

Ursula Strauss ( born April 25, 1974 in Melk) is an Austrian actress.

Life and work

Ursula Strauss grew up in Poechlarn on in the district of Melk. After leaving school at the educational institution for kindergarten teachers in Amstetten, she moved to Vienna, where he attended from 1993 to 1996, the National Theatre Drama School. Subsequently, she was involved in various roles in the popular theater. Then she played in the court theater Gossam, in St. Pölten stage in the courtyard, on the milker Summer Games, at the Vienna Ensemble Theatre, Theatre Drachengasse Theater in der Josefstadt, City Theater Kiel, Stadttheater Klagenfurt and at TEATA Cologne.

In 1999, she began her film career. For the first time one of the lead roles they played in Free Radicals ( 2003). In 2008, she played a major role in revenge again and was for an award at the film festival in Graz diagonal, which usually does not award any acting awards with a special award for her acting performance.

After a few guest appearances in various television series, she took over in the 2008 starting crime series Quick calculated as the Commissioner Angelika Schnell the main role, for which she received a Romy 2010. For her performance in Elizabeth damage rank feature film Maybe in another life Strauss won the 2012 Austrian film award.

In 2012, Ursula Strauss also took over the role as the first curator of a cultural festival. The Autumn / Winter Festival Wachau in real time launched on September 30, 2012 at the Wachau World Heritage Site.

Since October 2013 she has with Stefan Ruzowitzky held the Presidency of the Academy of the Austrian film.
