Ursus Wehrli

Ursus Wehrli ( born August 13, 1969 in Aarau as Urs Wehrli ) is a Swiss comedian, visual artist, photographer and conceptual artist.

Life

Ursus Wehrli was born in Aarau and is a trained typographer. Since 1987 he performs with Nadja winner on a cabaret duo Ursus & Nadeschkin. So far, this duo has produced six full-length programs that made them known in German-speaking countries.

Work as a visual artist

Besides his work in the duo Ursus Wehrli & Nadeschkin has worked as a visual artist. A stir he made in 2002 with the project "art clean up " in which he cut and new reproductions of famous pictures, but ordered geometric, composed.

Even more caused a stir his project " The art of clean up ", in which he cleaned up not only two-dimensional, as first images, but real collections of objects and scenes. With this work, he became very well known outside of Switzerland. In addition to original ideas such as the " clean up " a shell chips, or even an alphabet soup, he acknowledged also as a parking lot full of cars by color, a football team in naked men and clothes etc. and a whole stack Badewiese. He crossed the border of sheer photographic art to performance art and happenings. The actions were also documented by films. In spring 2012 Swiss Post issued a stamp designed by Wehrli.
