US Colomiers

The Union Sportive Colomiers Rugby is a rugby union club based in the French city of Colomiers in the Haute- Garonne. He is represented in the highest amateur league Fédérale 1 and plays its home games at the Stade Michel Bendichou from. Although U.S. Colomiers was never champion of France, but was already in the final of the Heineken Cup and won the European Challenge Cup.

History

The club was founded in 1915. For many decades, the team played in the lower amateur leagues. 1976 reached the summit in the then third division, in 1980 in the second division. In 1988, the promotion to the top league. In the 1997/98 season the team took part in the European Challenge Cup and was also in the final against undefeated SU Agen. In the 1998/99 season Colomiers succeeded almost a sensation and gave up before the finals of the Heineken Cup, but then defeated the Irish team Ulster Rugby.

History's last great success celebrated Colomiers in 2000; the team qualified for the final of the French championship, but lost to the Parisian club Stade Français. Colomiers could not build on these achievements in the sequence; the team rose in 2003 in the Pro D2 from 2004 even in the amateur league Fédérale 1, 2005, she managed the re-emergence in the Pro D2, but could only hold for two years there.
