Usambara Weaver

The Nicoll - Weaver (Ploceus Nicolli ) is a highly endangered Weaver bird of the genus Sparrow Weaver (Ploceus ). The bird is endemic to Tanzania. The Nicoll -Weber, with its subspecies Ploceus Ploceus Nicolli Nicolli and Nicolli anderseni only occurs in less fragmented density. Therefore, the bird on the Red List critically endangered ( Endangered ) species of the IUCN.

Identification

The bird is about 13 to 14 inches tall. You can see the bird mainly in the upper strata and tree canopy of the forest. The upper part of the plumage is dull black. The head is dark brown with a tendency to the black. From the neck up to the forehead, the color yellow is moderate. The lower part is lemon yellow. The female is very similar to the male. Only the head has a stronger brown.

Distribution area

You can find the Nicoll -Weber mainly in the mountains of eastern ( area Shume, Magamba and Mazumbai ) or West ( in the area of ​​Nilo Forest Reserve ) Usambara, Uluguru and Udzungwa.
