USAT Buford

The 1885 -built military transport U.S.T. Buford was used in the Philippine-American War.

From the press called The Red Ark, it was used on 20 December 1919 to deport 249 suspected persons had been arrested in connection with the Palmer Raids, from New York to the Soviet Union. The deportees were mostly Russian anarchists, including Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman.
