USC Trojans

The USC Trojans are the sports department of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The crews of the Trojans take part in the competitions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA). USC is part of the league of the Pacific -12 Conference. 375 USC athletes participated in the Olympic Games 1904-2004. They won 112 gold, 64 silver and 58 bronze medals. With the neighboring UCLA Bruins University of California, Los Angeles, there is a strong rivalry.

American Football

The American football team the Trojans was established in 1888 and bears their home games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum ( capacity: 92 516 spectators ) from.

Since 1928, USC won claims to eleven national titles, while the sports historian grant only eight. 1931, 1932, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1974, 1978 and 2004 titles in 1928, 1939 and 2003 are controversial. Baseball

The baseball team, which played its first season in 1924, won twelve NCAA title of the College World Series. The symbol of success was the coach Rod Dedeaux, under whose leadership from 1942 to 1986 the team won no less than eleven titles. Best-known USC players are: Aaron Boone, Bret Boone, Don Buford, Jeff Cirillo, Ron Fairly, Geoff Jenkins, Randy Johnson, Jacque Jones, Steve Kemp, Dave Kingman, Fred Lynn, Mark McGwire, Mark Prior, Tom Seaver, Roy Smalley and Barry Zito. Total 89 USC Trojans played in Major League Baseball.

Basketball

The basketball has a long tradition at USC. Already in 1907 the men were playing their first season and have won 14 league championships since then. The women won their first championship in 1983 and have since started to the best teams in the league. Overall, so far two national titles were won. Home ground of the USC Trojans is the Galen Center (capacity 10,258 spectators ).

Athletics

The section of the Trojans Athletics was founded in 1900. The highest ( 12 NCAA titles ) won the athletes from 1909 to 1948 under the direction of coach Dean Cromwell. Overall, the USC athletes won 26 Olympic gold medals and achieved 61 world records.
