Late Bloomers is a feature film by British director Beeban Kidron from the year 1992. Tragicomedy based on a play by Todd Graff, who adapted it for the screen and was produced by JVC Entertainment and Largo Entertainment.
Action
Queens, in 1969: the Jewish family Berman is confronted with the death of her male head of the family. The attractive Pearl wears her husband, from whom she had been estranged over the years, to the grave. A short time later it gets, in the presence of her family, a declaration of love 's contemporary Italo - American Joe. This for thirty years has feelings for the evil entrepreneurial and self-centered matriarch in the 60s, what the already dysfunctional family Berman, among others, consisting of the sheltered grandmother Freida and Pearls divorced daughters Bibby and Norma, plunges into chaos. Awards
The two main actors Shirley MacLaine and Marcello Mastroianni was nominated in 1993 for a Golden Globe in the category of comedy or musical, but each had over Miranda Richardson ( Enchanted April) and Tim Robbins ( The Player ) in the cold.
