Usedom Botanical Gardens, Mellenthin

Usedom Botanical Garden Mellenthin is a private collection of more than 1000 different perennials on the Baltic island of Usedom.

General

The Botanical Garden is due to a purely private initiative. Therefore, the relaxation bidding component of a botanical garden of the Scientific is presented in it, nevertheless, done a contribution to environmental education through the plant label in the languages ​​Latin, German and Polish. In it, more than 50,000 plants ( excluding the spring-flowering bulbs ) planted on an area of ​​60,000 square meters since the beginning of plantations in October 2006. The collection of plants in this botanical garden is not as is common, arranged according to their origin, but rather according to its scheme. The locations of individual plants were determined by the natural conditions of the rescheduled arable land and thus embedded in the locality. For the arrangement and distribution in addition a total of 750 tons of natural stones or boulders were placed in Usedom Botanical Garden Mellenthin.

Arrangement of the garden

Usedom Botanical Garden consists of 14 individual gardens. Nearly all the individual gardens are bordered with hedges, so that they are only individually visible and therefore only the " individual garden experience " is triggered in the viewer upon entering the respective subject area.

The Green Garden

Mainly is a collection of conifers and some evergreen ground cover in it. Also located here about 8000 Tulips ( Tulipa) [IV - V], azaleas (Rhododendron ) [V ], ground cover roses ( Rosa ) [VI - X] and bell heather ( Erica tetralix ) [ IX - XI ].
