USS Claude V. Ricketts (DDG-5)

The USS Claude V. Ricketts (DDG -5 ) was a destroyer of the Charles F. Adams - class services in the United States Navy.

History

The USS Claude V. Ricketts (DDG -5), led to 1964 as USS Biddle (DD -955 ) and USS Biddle (DDG -5) was given in 1957 at New York Shipbuilding in order, where it was put on 1959 Kiel. Entry into service with the U.S. Navy took place 1962.

After the collision, the cruiser USS Belknap (CG -26) with the USS John F. Kennedy (CV -67) was the Claude V. Ricketts after the fire of the cruiser as a rescue ship. The Ricketts went there alongside the Belknap. Their bodies were burned to the deck because of the magnesium content was kindled in the aluminum alloy in the heat of the fire itself. A total of eight sailors died in the fire.

1989 Claude V. Ricketts was decommissioned in 1990 and stricken from the register of ships. In 1994 the ship was sold for breaking down. This contract was revoked in 1996. 2001, the destroyer was eventually sold to Metro Machine, Incorporated, of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, which exploded the ship until 8 November 2002.
