History

The USS Fargo was put into service on December 9, 1945. She was the lead ship of the Fargo - class, however, remained quite small, as only two units were completed. The remaining works were canceled because the war had already ended. In contrast to the Cleveland class, there were the following changes: A single, but thicker chimney, the huddled bodies, altered positions of the two fire control Mk 34 and Mk 37, and, for reasons of better stability, the statement of 12.7 -cm twin towers one deck lower. The two aircraft catapults on the quarterdeck were expanded in 1948 to make room for a helipad. In addition, the SR -3 radar on the foremast, the SP was on the aft.
