USS Heron (MHC-52)

The USS Heron (MHC -52) was supplied as mine hunting boat to the U.S. Navy on 22 July 1994 and put into service on 6 August 1994. She is the second ship of Osprey - class. Since 15 July 1995, the ship was part of the Naval Reserve Force and was used for the training of reservists. On 16 March 2007, the Heron along with the USS Pelican ( MHC 53) was decommissioned and transferred to " warm state" to the Greek Navy. After completing a basic repair and crew training, the two ships were transferred to Greece. The Heron was renamed Kalipso.

The USS Heron (MHC -52) was the third ship with this name.
