USS Jackson ( LCS- 6) is a Littoral Combat Ship the United States Navy and is a member of the Independence class. It is the first U.S. Navy ship that was named after Jackson, the capital of Mississippi.
History
On 1 August 2011 started on the Austal 's Modular Manufacturing shipyard in Mobile, Alabama, the construction of the individual modules for the littoral combat ship. The keel-laying ceremony at the shipyard took place on 18 October 2012. The ship was christened in October 2011.
