USS Nevada

At least four ships of the United States Navy USS Nevada was named after the 36th state of the United States of America, Nevada.

  • The first Nevada was a 1863 -built screw steamer, which was never armed and eventually sold in 1872, see Nevada ( screw steamer )
  • The second Nevada ( BM -8 ) was a monitor placed in service in 1902, renamed in 1909 in Tonopah and was eventually sold in 1922.
  • The third Nevada ( BB -36 ) was a battleship of the Nevada class, which put into service in 1916, damaged during the attack on Pearl Harbor was 1948 and eventually sunk.
  • The fourth Nevada (SSBN-733) is a submarine of the Ohio class, which is equipped with ballistic missiles and was put into service in 1986.
