USS Ranger

In the history of United States Navy ships have been named USS seven Ranger:

  • The first USS Ranger was a sloop with 18 guns. The commanded by John Paul Jones ship in 1780, captured by the Royal Navy and made available as HMS Halifax in service.
  • The second USS Ranger bought the Navy 1814. The schooner was armed with a single 18- pounder and was sold in 1816.
  • The third USS Ranger was a brig of 14 guns. It was also in 1814 buys and remained until 1821 in service.
  • The fourth USS Ranger was a gunboat of the Alert class. It was launched in 1876 and in 1908 converted to a training ship. The multiple -named vessel was scrapped in 1958.
  • The fifth USS Ranger was built in 1910 motor yacht which was as a patrol boat in service with the U.S. Navy 1917-1919 and 1930/31 and was subsequently sold.
  • The sixth USS Ranger was a motorboat that was launched in 1882. 1918 and 1919 it was used as a mine countermeasures vessel in coastal protection.
  • The seventh USS Ranger was a battlecruiser of the Lexington class. The ship was in 1921 placed on the stack, but broken off unfinished again after 1923 were made freeze.
  • The eighth USS Ranger was an aircraft carrier. The ship was in 1933, launched in the first of the U.S. Navy planned as a carrier. It remained in service until 1946 and was sold a year later to cancel.
  • The ninth USS Ranger is an aircraft carrier of the Forrestal class, which was launched in 1956. The ship remained in service until 1993 and has since been in Bremerton.
