USS Richmond (CL-9)

The USS Richmond ( CL -9 ) was a light cruiser Omaha - class of the United States Navy. It is the third American ship, which was named after the city of Richmond ( Virginia). On Keel laid on 16 February 1920 been launched on 29 September 1921 and put into service on July 2, 1923 the ship took part in the Second World War, mainly in the area of the Aleutian Islands and, from 1944, of the Kuril Islands. On March 27, 1943, the Richmond participated in the Battle of the Komandorski Islands

After the Pacific War, the obsolete ship on January 21, 1946 was decommissioned and sold in the same year for scrapping.
