The USS Santa Fe ( SSN -763 ) is a nuclear submarine of the United States Navy and is part of the Los Angeles- class. It was named after the city of Santa Fe in New Mexico.
History
SSN -763 was commissioned in 1986. In July 1991, the keel of the boat was placed at Electric Boat, on 12 December 1992, the hull of the Santa Fe was launched. After the final details and some test drives the submarine was officially put into service in early 1994.
In September 2003, the Navy moved the boat in the Western Pacific, where she participated in the exercise ANNUALEX '03, along with the Navy of Japan. To participate in the Santa Fe was able to win the Navy Unit Commendation. The end of the boat spent in dry dock, where some minor repairs were carried out. After testing and test drives early 2005, the next transfer took place in August, where the boat took part in the exercise Malabar, which was conducted with the Indian Navy in February 2006, the Santa Fe returned to Pearl Harbor.
Following the boat plunged into the Atlantic, where the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, some repairs were carried out. By early 2008, the Santa Fe remained in port in the yard. In summer, the U- boat then took part in the exercise RIMPAC. In May 2009, the Santa Fe moved into the Pacific, as in February 2011.
