USS Truxtun

Six ships of the United States Navy USS Truxtun were named after Thomas Truxtun:

  • The first Truxtun was a brig built in 1842
  • The second Truxtun (DD -14) was a destroyer in service between 1902 and 1919.
  • The third Truxtun (DD -229 ) was a destroyer in service 1921-1942.
  • The fourth Truxtun (APD -98) should be a destroyer escort (DE- 282) was completed in 1945 but as a transport ship
  • The fifth Truxtun (CGN- 35), former DLGN -35, was a nuclear cruiser.
  • The sixth Truxtun (DDG -103 ) is a destroyer of the Arleigh Burke-class, in service since 2009.
