Ustertag

On November 22, 1830 gathered at the Zimiker Hill in Uster about ten thousand men of the Zurich landscape and demanded the " Memorial of type " a new constitution. The main concern was equality between town and country. The Ustertag can be described as a revolution because of its force, its focus and the speed of events. He meant the political turn of the modern canton of Zurich.

The Ustertag of 1830 had a significant effect on the then Switzerland and the Federal Constitution of 1848. Annually the event in the Reformed Church of Uster is celebrated with a prominent keynote speaker. 1994 said the former Federal Councillor and Head of the EMD, Kaspar Villiger:

" Examination is for the modern Switzerland, which Sempach for the Old Confederation: a decisive breakthrough. Model is a proof that our people has always found in its history, the force for renewal, without also losing its historical and political identity. "

On the Ustertag followed 1832, the Uster fire. As a reactionary counter-movement applies the Züriputsch 1839.
