Ut Unum Sint

Ut Unum Sint The encyclical ( That they may be one ) from the year 1995 was dedicated by Pope John Paul II ecumenism and reaffirmed in the desire for the unity of all Christians. He also invites dialogue on the exercise of the Petrine office by the Bishop of Rome.

The title refers directly to a saying of Jesus ( Jn 17:11 GNB) and indirectly on the document council Unitatis redintegratio.
