Utah County is a county located in the state of Utah in the United States. The the county seat ( county seat ) and largest city is Provo.

Geography

The Utah County is located in the transition of the Rocky Mountains in the east to the geological province of the Basin and Range to the west and has an area of 5545 square kilometers ( 2145 mi ²), of which only 369 square kilometers of Lake Uth the proportion of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the County: Wasatch County, Carbon County, Duchesne County, Sanpete County, Juab County, Tooele County and Salt Lake County. The average height in the County is located at 1310 m to 1432 m. The area of the county is largely identical to the Utah Valley, the Valley of Utah Lakes beneath the Wasatch Mountains, on the main ridge runs the eastern border of the county. History

Utah County was founded in 1852. It was named after the Spanish name for Yuta the Ute Indians.

According to the census of 2000, there were 368 536 people in Utah County. There were 99 937 households and 80 749 families. The population density was 71 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.36 % White, 0.30 % African American, 0.60 % Native American, 1.06 % Asian, 0.58 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 3.25 % from other races groups; 1.85% were descended from two or more races. 7.00 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 99 937 households out of which 48.30 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 69.80 % were married couples living together, 8.00 % had a female householder with no husband. 19.20 % were non-families. 11.20% of all households and 4.70% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 3.59 and the average family size was 3.86 persons.

Based on the county the population was spread out with 34.10 % under the age of 18, 21.00 % from 18 to 24, 25.90% from 25 to 44 years, 12.70% between 45 and 64 years and 6.40% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 23 years. For every 100 females there were 98.30 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.50 males.

The median income for a household was $ 45,833, and the median income for a family was $ 50,196. Males had a median income of $ 37,878, women $ 22,656. The per capita income was $ 15,557. 12.00% of the population and 6.80% of families are below the poverty line. 8.40 % of those under age 18 and 4.80 % were 65 years or older.
