Utah State Route 21

Course

The road begins east of the Great Basin National Park on the border of White Pine County, Nevada, as a continuation of Nevada State Route 487, which over Baker for U.S. Highway 6/US Highway 50 continues. After about two kilometers, the Garrison settlement is reached where the light coming from the north Utah State Route 159 opens. The route runs through the Snake Valley past the Pruess Lake and leads the Mormon Gap crossing further into the Antelope Valley. After crossing the Halfway Halfway Hills on Summit ( 6300 ft./1920 m) is located in the Pine Valley UNESCO Desert Experimental Range touched. The Wah Wah Mountains are crossed at the Wah Wah Summit ( 6439 ft./1963 m), which is now largely extending eastward route crosses the Wah Wah Valley and the Frisco Summit ( 6500 ft./1981 m), the San Francisco Mountains before it with Milford reached the first major settlement in the Beaver Bottoms. The road turns to the junction of State Route 257 to the south, crosses the route of the Union Pacific and follows the valley of the Beaver River through the Milford Flat according to Minersville, where 130 turns to the junction of State Route to the northeast. After the passage of the Minersville Reservoir, the route runs in an easterly direction, passes under the western outskirts of Beaver Interstate 15 and ends at State Route 160 in downtown.

History

The development of the arid south-west of the state of Utah took place during the early 20th century in several stages. First, the section between Beaver and Milford from 1910 was recorded in the system of State Highways. This track was 1916 to Frisco and Newhouse extended to offer this mining towns as links to the transport network. It was not until 1927 - the year in which it was also awarded the still valid number 21 - was the completion of the section to the border of Nevada.
