Utaki

A Utaki ( okinawanisch御 岳) is a religious site of the indigenous religion of Okinawa. Other names are Kusatemui (腰 当 森) On and Ogamiyama (拝み 山). At these sites the native deities of the Ryukyu Islands and the ancestors are worshiped. A special feature of these sites is the "Boy taboo ", they are allowed to enter only certain areas.

In almost all the castles of Okinawa, the so-called Gusuku, there is also a Utaki, therefore it is said that these two are closely related.
