Utarp

Utarp is one of eight member communities of the velvet municipality in the district of Holtriem Witt mouth in Lower Saxony. The community had in 2004 about 650 inhabitants and covers an area of 6.37 square kilometers. To her out of the village Utarp includes the hamlets of Narp and Schlei.

The region and the community lives mainly from tourism. The North Sea is only 14 kilometers. Agriculture is only possible because the soils are of poor quality.

History

Utarp was first mentioned in 1473 as " tho Uthorpe " documentary, the municipality has been but already inhabited in the Neolithic period. Evidence of a now destroyed megalithic grave of the Funnel Beaker culture. During an excavation at its site in 1878 several vessels were recovered.

The old gentleman mill in the form of a windmill, which was first mentioned in 1684, was discontinued in 1908 and replaced by a Dutch windmill. Also from this Dutch windmill Only the torso, since the upper part was taken to Bad Zwischenahn 1960.

Parish council

The Council of the Municipality Council Utarp consists of 9 women and councilors. This is the set number for the member community of integrated municipality with a population of 501-1000 people. The 9 Women Council and councilors are elected by a municipal election for five years. The current term of office began on 1 November 2011.

The council chose the alderman Harmine Bents (WG ) for honorary mayor for the current parliamentary term.

The last local elections took place on September 11, 2011. All elected Council members include the voter community WG on.

The turnout in the local elections of 2011 was 58.46 %, well above the Lower Saxony average of 52.5 %. For comparison - in the previous local elections on 10 September 2006, the turnout was 68.56 %.

The Boßelverein " Freese Holt " Utarp / Pig village is one of the top clubs in the East Frisian national sport Boßeln. In the 2009/2010 season is " Freese Holt " with the first men's team in the top division, the division represented. The women play in the district league (2nd league). The club has about 300 members.
