Ute Hommola

Ute Hommola ( born January 20, 1952 in Weissenborn, Saxony ) is a former German athlete who had - starting for the GDR - in Moscow, won the bronze medal in the javelin at the 1980 Olympic Games. Also the bronze medal she had won two years earlier at the European Championships.

After their athletes career, she was an agricultural engineer for animal breeding. She worked in an LPG (DDR- farm ) in Oberbobritzsch, after the end of the GDR in an agricultural cooperative.

Ute Hommola competed for the SC Karl- Marx-Stadt and trained with Hermann Kretzschmann. In her playing days, she was 1.74 m tall and weighed 74 kg.
