Utica Devils

The Utica Devils were an American ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League from Utica, New York. The venue for the Devils was the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

History

The Utica Devils were founded in 1987 as the American Hockey League farm team of the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League. They solved the Mohawk Valley in Utica Comets from from the defunct Atlantic Coast Hockey League. The best result in the regular season in the six year history of the franchise had 92 points in the season 1989 / 90th While Utica reached in the six years four times the playoffs, but the team always failed in the first playoff round. In 1993 the team was purchased by the Calgary Flames, which according to Saint John, New Brunswick, resettled, where it henceforth as their farm team under the name of Saint John Flames played in the AHL.

The gap left by the Utica Devils, was filled by the Utica Bulldogs, who played in the 1993/94 season in the Colonial Hockey League.
