Utkirbek Haydarov

Otkirbek Haydarov (Russian Уткирбек Хайдаров Utkirbek Khaidarov; born January 25, 1974 in Andijon ) is a former Uzbek boxer. Haydarov won at Weltmeitsterschaften the bronze medal in 2005, the silver medal in 2001 and the gold medal in 1999 at the Asian Games in 2002 the gold medal at the Asian Championships 2005, the silver medal and at the Olympic Games 2004. Moreover, he was a participant of the Olympic Games 2000.

Career

In 1999 Haydarov at middleweight ( - 75kg) at the World Championships and arrived after victories over Jim Rodriguez, Venezuela ( 11:4 ), Salvatore Munno, Italy ( 6:4 ), and Evgeniy Kazantsev, Russia ( 18:3 ), the final, which he against Adrian Diaconu, Romania ( 6:1 ), won and thus became world champion.

At the 2000 Olympic Games Haydarov met already in the first fight on the later silver medalist Gaidarbek Gaidarbekow, Russia, who had not participated in the World Championships, and was eliminated against this almost from ( 11:10 ). The following year he participated in the Goodwill Games in Brisbane, but also different here compared Gaidarbekow early from (RSC 1 ).

At the World Championships 2001 Haydarov won by victories over Anthony St. Clair, Trinidad and Tobago ( RSC 2 ), Lucian Bute, Romania ( 23:18 ), Oleg Mashkin, Ukraine ( 37:23 ), and Yordanis Despaigne, Cuba ( 29:28 ), and a final defeat by Andrei Gogolev, Russia ( 36:29 ), the silver medal.

In 2002 Haydarov in the light heavyweight division and won the gold medal at the Asian Games and at the World Championships the following year he reached after victories over Khotso Motau, South Africa ( 17:3 ), Suriya Prasathinpimai, Thailand ( 21:6 ), and Javid Taghiev, Azerbaijan ( 25:14 ), the quarter- final, which he lost, however, against Yordanis Despaigne, Cuba ( 33:13 ).

At the Olympic Games 2004 Haydarov won the bronze medal. He won against Isaac Ekpo, Nigeria ( 21:11 ) Abdelhani Kinzi, Algeria ( 31:19 ), and Yildirim Tarhan, Turkey ( 16:11), before settling in the semifinals later Olympic champion Andre Ward, USA ( 17:15 ), was defeated and thus won the Olympic bronze medal.

2005 Haydarov started again at the World Championships and confirmed its success at the Olympic Games last year. After victories Pulev Tervel, Bulgaria ( 30:15 ), Mohamed Akli Amari, Algeria (RSC ), and Yegor Mechonzew, Russia ( 39:29 ), he again reached the semi-finals against which Jerdos Dschanabergenow, Kazakhstan ( 36:31 ) he lost that finished in third place. At the finals of the Asian Championships the same year he also met on Dschanabergenow and had to admit defeat him there.
