Uto (Kumamoto)
Uto (Japanese宇 土 市, - shi) is a Japanese city in Kumamoto Prefecture on the island of Kyūshū.
Geography
Uto is located south of Kumamoto and north of Uki and Yatsushiro. The western part of the municipality extends over the northern part of the Uto Peninsula (宇 土 半岛, Uto- Hanto ).
History
On 1 October 1958, the village (网 田村) was amalgamated from the county Hōtaku and Uto received its town charter.
