Uwe Bahnsen

Uwe Bahnsen ( born 1930 in Hamburg, † July 30, 2013 in France ) was a German automobile designer.

After an apprenticeship as a window dresser Bahnsen studied at the College of Fine Arts in Hamburg. From 1958 to 1986 he worked at Ford Europe held various positions, most recently as Vice President of Design. During this time he realized several automotive designs such as the Taunus 17M (the " bathtub " ) or the Capri. In addition, organized the race- inspired Bahnsen in the 1960s, a Ford factory team.

In 1986 Bahnsen as a training director at the private Art Center College of Design in La Tour de Peilz ( Switzerland ), which he directed between 1990 and 1995. He was elected to the Executive Board of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID ) in 1992 and was its president from 1995 to 1997. Bahnsen was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers and International Member of the Industrial Designers Society of America ( IDSA ).
