Uwe Barth

Uwe Barth ( born July 23, 1964 in Bad Langensalza ) is a German politician ( FDP). He is since 2003 state chairman of the FDP in Thuringia since 2009 Chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament and since 2013 one of three deputy FDP national chairman.

Life and career

After graduation in 1983 at the Advanced School in Auerbach / Vogtland Barth did his military service began in 1986 and a degree in Physics at the Friedrich -Schiller- University Jena, which he finished in 1993 as a physicist. He was then to 1994 personal assistant to the Thuringian Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning. After several years working in the Pollution Control Department of the Thuringian Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Conservation and the Environment, he was in the State environmental agency Erfurt, most recently as head of the Department of Pollution Control, Waste Management and Chemical Safety, works.

Uwe Barth is married and has two children.

Policy

1986 Barth was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. During the turn, he was among the founders of the Liberal Youth Action Thuringia, the liberal youth organization in Thuringia. After he was first elected as deputy chairman in 2002, Barth is since November 29, 2003 state chairman of the FDP Thuringia. Also since 2003 he is a member of the FDP Federal Executive.

Barth was the top candidate of the FDP for the state elections in Thuringia in 2004, in which the FDP, however, only reached 3.6% and thus not to the Landtag.

After the parliamentary elections in 2005, Barth was a member of the German parliament over the national list of the FDP. Here he was Chairman of the Group since the Working Group VI for innovation, social policy and culture. He was also the spokesman of the FDP parliamentary group on universities. In the Bundestag constituency Gera - Jena - Saale - Holzland he received 5.9 % of votes. He was to 27 September 2009 Member of the German Bundestag.

In the state elections in Thuringia in 2009 Barth was once again leading candidate of the FDP. After 15 years, the party overcame the first time in the five- percent threshold; they received 7.6% of the vote and won seven parliamentary seats. In September 2009, Barth was elected chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. Since the extraordinary party conference of the FDP in 2013 he, together with Wolfgang Kubicki and Marie- Agnes Strack -Zimmermann one of three representatives of the national chairman Christian Lindner.
