Uwe Kliemann

Uwe Kliemann (* June 30, 1949 in Berlin ) is a former German football player and coach.

The 1.96 m wide central defender Uwe Kliemann started his professional career in 1970 at the former first division side Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, to which he had moved from Berlin Hertha Zehlendorf regionalists. In 1972 he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he developed into one of the best defensive players in the Bundesliga and was nicknamed the radio tower in Berlin by the fans because of his size and his Berlin home. With the frankfurters he was in 1974 DFB Cup winner, although he did not come in the final designs, because the finale was moved by the World Cup in the following season, in which he played for Hertha BSC. Here he quickly received by the Berlin fans nicknamed radio tower in Berlin. As a player from Hertha BSC, he made his only international match on May 17, 1975 against the Netherlands. The game ended 1-1 after goals by Herbert Wimmer and Wim van Hanegem. Kliemann was in the starting. With the Hertha he also reached the final of the DFB - Pokal in 1977 against 1 FC Cologne, which, however, he lost in the first game in the replay 0-1 after a 1-1 draw. Two years later he moved again to the final of the DFB - Pokal in 1979 and this time also lost 0-1 against Fortuna Dusseldorf. After a failure of Kliemann Wolfgang Seel scored the winning goal in the 116th minute.

Uwe Kliemann remained until 1980 and moved to Hertha Berlin's relegation from the Bundesliga then Arminia Bielefeld. However, he made due to injuries a single game for the Bielefeld and had to go to the end of 1981 season to finish his career. 1984 Kliemann came into existence when he took over his former club Hertha BSC as a coach, but was fired in December 1985. For a few months he took over the work as a trainer for SpVgg Bayreuth.
