Uwe Reimer

Uwe Reimer ( born February 16, 1948 in Hamburg, † 23 February 2004 in Göttingen ) was a German author who has written numerous books on history and Civics textbooks topics.

Life

Uwe Reimer was born in 1948 in Hamburg. He attended high school Altona, where in 1967 he graduated from high school. He studied history and philosophy at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University in Munich, where he met his future co-authors Lutz Tornow, with whom he was associated until his death in friendship. Uwe Reimer received his doctorate in 1978.

His first book published in two volumes, everyday life under the Swastika (1980 ), has been criticized in Germany as too uncritically. In Japan Reimers found representation of National Socialism, however, more followers, so that the book translated (see DDB), and was occasionally used in the classroom. Reimers following works were initially received little attention until, in collaboration with Lutz Tornow with The USA ( 1992) he had a hand in many acclaimed works.

Due to health problems, he retired to family life with his wife and two children and was active as a writer only to a minor extent. Uwe Reimer died in Göttingen in 2004.
