Uwe Rosenberg

Uwe Rosenberg ( born March 27, 1970 in Aurich / Ostfriesland ) is a German game designer. He became known primarily through the card game Bohnanza, which is very successful in other countries such as the Netherlands and the USA. His greatest success as a game designer is to win the German Games Award 2008 with the game Agricola.

Life

Rosenberg began during the students time to deal with the development and mechanisms of games. During this time he published some post games that are offered today in part on the Internet platform www.omido.de. The publication of his most famous game, Bohnanza at Amigo falls, in his student days. Since completing his statistical studies ( Thesis: " probability distributions in the Memory" ) in Dortmund he devoted himself full time to the development of games.

In the 1990s, Rosenberg learned the games and crafts, by not only invented games but also regularly participated in games tournaments. He and his team arrived at the German team championship in the board game in different years on the 4th, 5th and 6th place.

In 2000, he founded with other authors the small publisher Lookout Games. Here, among other things, various extensions to Bohnanza have been published, partly in collaboration with Hanno Girke. Larger projects will, however, continue with other publishers, such as Amigo and cosmos published.

Rosenberg has made primarily by developing innovative mechanisms card game a name. Another focus of his work are recherche intensive games that deal with bizarre events from the past, and games that deal with women 's and men's stereotypes. Since 2005 he has focused on building games with complex economic issues: His first, Agricola, was published in October 2007. Rosenberg is married and has a daughter and a son. He lives and works in Gütersloh. By the end of 2011 he maintained a studio in Dortmund.

Awards
