Üxheim is a municipality in the volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the Hillesheim. The district Niederehe is accredited resort.

Geographical location

The municipality is located in the Hillesheimer Kalkmulde in the Volcanic Eifel West, one of three sub-regions, in which the volcanic Eifel region is divided, at the border to Rhineland -Palatinate North Rhine -Westphalia.

Community structure

Üxheim consists of the districts of Üxheim Ahütte, Leudersdorf ( with Flesten and Noll Bach ), low marriage and Heyroth. The places Üxheim Ahütte and Leudersdorf with Flesten form the parish Üxheim. They are called together in the area as well " Kijeschbel " ( parish ). The parish consists of the villages Niederehe Kerpen with Loogh, Heyroth and low marriage. The historically interesting monastery church in Niederehe houses one of the oldest royal organs.

History

Üxheim was first mentioned in the year 844.

1175 the monastery Niederehe was founded, which was inhabited by Premonstratensian.

The village belonged Üxheim until the late 18th century to direct imperial rule Kerpen, which was owned by the Dukes of Arenberg.

The community Üxheim was newly formed by the municipal reform in Rhineland -Palatinate on 1 January 1968 from the previously independent municipalities Leudersdorf, Niederehe and Üxheim - Ahütte. The community Heyroth was incorporated on February 1, 1968.

Parish council

The local council in Üxheim consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The 16 seats in the City Council are distributed among four groups of voters.

Natural monument waterfall Dreimühlen

In Ahbachtal, 1.0 km from Ahütte and 2.8 km from Niederehe away, the waterfall is three mills. Evaporation and deposition in moss to Kalksintergestein, which helps foster the waterfall by six to eight inches per year makes.
